Kiri.

Devoted social worker Miriam Grayson (Sarah Lancashire, Happy Valley) arranges for a young black girl, Kiri, to have an unsupervised visit with her biological grandparents before her white foster family officially adopts her. Shortly after dropping her off, Miriam receives a message that Kiri has gone missing – soon realising she’s been abducted. The fingers of suspicion and blame quickly point to Miriam as her judgement is questioned. Kiri’s birth family also find both their past failings and their present dysfunctional relationships put under the microscope. This is especially true of Nathaniel (Paapa Essiedu, The Miniaturist), Kiri’s violent, drug dealing ex-con birth father. As the media spotlight around the story intensifies, Miriam, as well as both sets of families, are forced to ask the toughest of questions – not just of themselves, but of each other.
